Ava's Pre-school Pumpkin!

GLITTER?  GLITTER!!!!!!!!  I was told once that glitter is the herpes of the craft world... I always laugh at that statement - one because it's gross, but two because it is so TRUE!  Let's give a big shout out to our pre-school teachers who assisted 18 kids under the age of 5 decorate their own tiny pumpkins for Halloween!  Ava sure had alot of fun and she loved decorating her very own pumpkin at her class Halloween Party today! Her's was adorned with green, red, silver and orange glitter!  If it wasn't so stinking cute and she didn't have such a great time making it, I would have probably thrown it in the dumpster but it looks like I will be sweeping up the glitz for months to come!   I have to say it's worth it... just look at that smile!

CRAZY HAIR DAY:

Well, I had the challenge of sending my daughter off to school today with a hair-do that was indeed CRAZY!  It is Red-Ribbon Week at school this week, which is teaching them all to stay drug free.  They celebrate each day by doing something out of the norm... today, was CRAZY HAIR DAY.   I learned my lesson last year and chose not to do any kind of color hair spray - it is so difficult to get it out!  But I think that Grace fit the bill with the crazy tails all over her head.  I am glad it is just once a year - my OCD wouldn't allow her out of the house! :)

Halloween Party at Nanna's!

Last weekend we got to go to Nanna's for our annual Halloween Party! It was a lot of fun and it was the first time in a long time that we were all together - all the Tucker kids, spouses and offspring!  We did several different craft projects including: paper plate bats, Halloween sticker placemats and even frosted our own cookies! Lindy's cookie was the best as she decorated it to look like a hamburger!   We had  great dinner of homemade soup.. mom and dad spoiled us by making not one, not two, but THREE different kinds to include everyone's personal favorite: Chili, Chicken Noodle and my personal favorite - CHEESE!  And of course, in true Halloween fashion the soup was served in pumpkin soup bowls and we had a side of green Frankenstien finger breadsticks!  It was really, really cute!    We had a blast and were there for about 5 hours!  What a crazy, fun-filled, way to spend a Saturday Night!  :)

Popcorn Minutes with Grace!

Nothing says, "NO SCHOOL TOMORROW" like a girl's night in - Mommy/Daughter style!  Grace is loving the UEA weekend since we have allowed her to stay up late... 11pm!  It was a real "treat" to spend a couple of hours snacking down the candy corn popcorn (wonder why I'm chubby!) and watching the Disney movie of the week... The Little Mermaid!  What a classic!  It was great to snuggle, laugh and sing and the memories we made will last forever!   I love my girl and it is so fun to chill with her!  Here's hoping she never gets to big for a date with mom!

Sunday Will Come

As my friends are going through an experience that holds sadness without end, I find myself looking for ways to comfort them.  At times like these it seems that there are no words to say, nor enough hugs to go around that takes away the pain and heartache.  Though it is heartbreaking I find comfort in the only place I know that I always will.  How grateful I am for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the promises given to the faithful.  I love my Heavenly Father and am so grateful that His Son lived His life for me, to comfort me, to reassure me and to aide us in the things we face in life.

BUTTONS AND BOWS:

Invitation to the dance.. Daddy brought me flowers!
"Oh, what a night... A couple of weeks ago, Grace came home from Activity Days with an invitation in hand!  She was so very excited to ask her daddy out on a date and was even more excited when he said YES!

"I'm SO excited!

The "kiss" before the date!

As we put the invite on the calendar - Grace grew more and more excited as the day drew closer!  Today, we went and found a tie to match her cute new dress!  I don't think Jason has ever worn argyle before, but today he wore it proudly and I think he was very touched that she thought to get him something before their special date!
In true date fashion, (and in hopes to install a few dating standards for our girl) Jason rang the doorbell and presented Grace with some fresh flowers!  The smile was priceless and she was so happy that he thought of such a sweet thing!  After a few, mommy made me pose, pictures, they headed off to dinner (and of course, Jason opened all the doors and treated his little girl like a queen) and then to their special Harvest Ball where they were taught dances including, the Foxtrot!  While at the dance, they wrote little love notes to each other and those will be delivered with the photo they took upon arriving!  I can't wait to see that!
And of course, the night wouldn't be complete without a trip to Baskin Robbins!
What a great night my family had and  how blessed I feel that my husband loves his little girl!  It brings back alot of memories of special times I had with my own daddy and I am so happy that I married a man that will create those same memories with his own girls.  So happy and so blessed!

Family Moments:

Useless Trivia

The crazy the things you talk about with other mothers!  Last week a friend and I were volunteering at school and the word towhead came into the conversation.  I used the term in reference to a little baby that we saw in the hall and said something like, "oh, look at the little towheaded baby.."  My friend then posed a question of where that term came from and how one would spell it.  I responded saying, "Dunno!"  Consequently, I asked a few other people over the past few days if they knew the answer to that silly question.  And most every one's response was... "Dunno!"  Shame on us!  I am always telling Grace that she should only use those words that she knows the meaning for and here I am using terminology that I couldn't truly define myself!  Well, because I know that it is "vital" to my existence and that of those I love most, I felt the urgency to look up this silly phrase and share the knowledge!

Exhibit A

Towhead:  "tow" is an old word for flax or similar fibers used for spinning. So, hair the color of flax.

Whew, I feel better! And now when I pass a cute little "towhead" I can properly proclaim it!  I will sleep better tonight, having shared. :)

Are there other terms we use that we simply are in habit of using and don't quite know the origin or meaning?  Educate me!

Grace all in White:

I couldn't resist taking Grace in for professional photos!  She is absolutely BEAUTIFUL dressed all in white and I wanted to ensure that we had her captured in this season of her life!

She had fun posing and they turned out great but I am reminded that I much prefer snapshots instead of formal pictures.  Some of these shots did capture her little personality so I am happy about that!

We had a horrible start with the our "appointment" - we chose to do Kiddie Kandids.  We set our appointment for 12, were asked to be there at 11:45 am and when we got there they informed us that they were running about 1 1/2 hours behind!  They encouraged us to do some mall shopping while we waited but I was not too thrilled seeing as one - we scheduled in between General Conference Sessions and if we waited, wouldn't be back in time, two - we had an appointment, weren't called about the delay and should be able to have the allotted time THEY gave us, and three - let's see, an 8 year old girl dressed up in ALL WHITE, cruising the mall?  Can we say accident waiting to happen?  I a mean COME ONE!  So after a little "discussion" (10 min) we were able to proceed with our appointment as scheduled.  Apparently, I can be pretty convincing. :)  And after we settled down a bit, we had a fun time!

I am a VERY blessed woman to have such a beautiful daughter.  She amazes me everyday and I will never forget the feelings I had on her Baptism Day.  These photos will always remind me of that special time and she makes me happy knowing that she is beautiful, but that her beauty ISN'T skin deep.
